What the Heck is HEC? And Are Your's in Check?

We all know that in order to lose weight, or more specifically fat, that we need a calorie deficit. Weight loss and fat loss are not the same. Weight loss takes the calorie only approach...eat less, exercise more is the mantra for weight loss. But by taking a low calorie diet approach, we are essentially unbalancing and not stabilizing our metabolism. The reason is because a low calorie approach changes our hormonal chemistry which leads to compensatory hunger, out of control cravings and unstable energy. You can get some weight loss and if you're lucky, some fat loss, but it takes A LOT of willpower. Willpower is just like a muscle...you can fatigue it to the point of not being able to 'use' it. The end result is yo-yo weight gain.

Thank goodness there's a better way to achieve a calorie deficit...by taking a hormones first approach. When you look at hormones first, you keep hunger under control, diminish cravings and stabilize your energy. This in turn will cause you to eat less, naturally. So no need to rely on sheer willpower alone to achieve this deficit.

So how in the world does one control these hormones? By paying attention to your hormonal sensations or biofeedback clues. These are hunger, energy and cravings (HEC). To eat and exercise in a way to stabilize your HEC is your goal.

It's time to start being a detective and stop being a dieter.

Take a look at this article by Dr. Jade Teta of Metabolic Effect. It explains all of this in more detail with some the basics to help you become a Fat Loss Detective and uncover your own, unique Metabolic Formula.
